The Florida Trumpet Pitcher Plant - Insectivorous Plants - Apalachicola National Forest, Florida.

This rare plant grows in boggy areas of the Florida panhandle and supplements its diet by eating insects. Many unique and diverse species of plant and animal life live in very specialized areas of our forests. We can offer 'protection' we think...., by limiting mans interaction with these unique areas, however we can't protect species from nature itself. This area was hit very hard by Hurricane Dennis, the first of three major hurricanes to hit the Gulf in 2005. The results have devastated millions of acres of forest and farm lands.
